Yesterday was poetry in America.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris spoke to all Americans. People cried. I cried. People who don’t cry cried. And Van Jones cried.
Church bells tolled in cities around the world, including Paris.
By chance, I found in my notebook something I had jotted down during the summer. I don’t remember where I heard it, where I read it, or whether I wrote it myself:
“Love builds on the good hearts we are born with. Sadly, hate is learned.”
Biden reminded Americans, “We may be opponents, but we are not enemies.”
Biden will tackle Covid-19 and heal our Nation. His promise:
“I will work as hard for those who didn’t vote for me – as those who did.”
