On December 28 between rainstorms, a brilliant sunset blanketed my foothill town. The foliage and mountains were golden. I can’t recall seeing anything this magical in the 35 years that we have lived here. I was in the right place at the right second. People had stopped in their tracks to capture the extraordinary light.
